Hi, it's Ivo.
What grill-me does
You give it a plan in one or two sentences. Instead of writing anything, the AI interviews you about it.
- It asks in rounds. Each round has only the questions you can answer right now.
- Every question is numbered and comes with a suggested answer, so you can reply "1 yes, 2 no, because…".
- Facts are the AI's job. Decisions are yours.
- Nothing gets written until you say you're aligned.
Today's grill-me is one line that calls a second skill, grilling. That second skill does the actual interview, so you need both.

No Claude Code? Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. It's my own wording of the same idea, not the skill itself.
Before you help me, interview me about this plan.
How to do it:
- Ask in rounds. In each round, ask only the questions I can answer right now. Save anything that depends on my answers for a later round.
- Number every question and put your suggested answer under it, so I can reply like "1 yes, 2 no, because…".
- Don't ask me things you can work out yourself. Facts are your job, decisions are mine.
- Don't write the plan, a draft, or anything else until I say "we're aligned".
My plan: [1–2 sentences]
Replace the last line with your plan, then answer one round at a time.
How to install the skill
In Claude Code
- Run this once in your terminal:
claude plugin install mattpocock-skills@claude-plugins-official. It installs the whole set, grillingincluded. - Start a new conversation and type
/grill-meplus one or two sentences about your plan. - Leave plan mode off. The author says plan mode makes the agent hurry to a plan when you want it to keep asking.
Installing only grill-me with a one-skill command leaves out grilling, and then nothing happens.
In claude.ai (web or desktop)
Skills work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.
- Go to Settings > Capabilities and turn on Code execution and file creation.
- Download the
grillingfolder from github.com/mattpocock/skills (it's inskills/productivity/grilling) and zip it. - Go to Customize > Skills, click +, then Create skill > Upload a skill, and upload the zip.
- Switch it on, then ask Claude to grill you on your plan.
Two errors people hit when uploading: the folder name doesn't match the skill name, or the SKILL.md file is missing.
One tip
Don't answer "agreed, agreed, agreed" to every question. The author calls that the failure mode: you end up with a plan the AI wrote and you nodded at. Push back where the suggested answer is wrong for your business.
What this page can't do
As of October 2026. Menus, plans and install commands change, so check the repo's README if a step looks different. The skill can read files in your folder in Claude Code, but it doesn't write or delete anything.
